Poet's Voice

Bay colt by Dubawi out of Bright Tiara

Every day, I get turned out in the same paddock at White Lodge Stud as Lady Catherine 07 with two other friends.

We don’t have official names yet as most racehorses are not named until they go into training as two-year-olds.
We’re still yearlings so for now we are named after our mothers and
the year in which we were born.

I am now officially a two-year-old and have been named Poet’s Voice, which I think is a very nice name. Late last year, I had a very long journey to Dubai, where I joined Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin Stable. I spent the winter there which was lovely, as it is very warm and sunny in Dubai and the perfect place to learn how to carry a rider on my back.

Now I am back in Newmarket and as you can see from the photo (where I am the horse closest to you), I am thoroughly enjoying my work on the Newmarket gallops.

On 8 July 2009, I had my first race at the July Course in Newmarket. This was quite handy as it is only a few miles from my stable. Sometimes racehorses have to travel for hundreds of miles in a horsebox to get to the races but I only had a short journey. I think the boss is quite pleased with me because I came third in a good maiden race. Frankie Dettori was my jockey and he used to ride my dad Dubawi, too.

A few weeks later and it was time to race again and this time I won! Not only did I win but I was ten whole lengths ahead of the second horse so everyone is very excited about me now as they think I might be very good. Because I'm nice and fit, I ran again on 18 August - this time in a much tougher race so did very well to finish third and I had to travel all the way to York!

On 12 September I won the best race yet, leading all the way to win the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. This was a Group Two race so everyone was very pleased with me, especially Sheikh Mohammed who was there at the races to watch me. Now I am hoping to run in the best class of race there is, a Group One, which is very exciting indeed!

At the end of the 2009 flat season, I travelled all the way to Dubai to carry on my training at Al Quoz Stables. Here you can see me out for a canter - we have to start very early in the morning before it gets too hot!

In April, I came back to Newmarket and am busy getting ready for the new season. As I am now three, this is known as my Classic season so I really hope to do well this year.

In August, I won my first race of 2010 - a race called the Celebration Mile which is at a beautiful racecourse named Goodwood. I was more than four lengths ahead of the second horse so it was a very good win for me. Next time, I'll hopefully run in the best sort of race there is - a Group One.

On September 25, I won the Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes, my best win yet! My dad Dubawi was second in this race a few years ago and my grandfather - the great Dubai Millennium - won it back in 1999.
