Silk Trail
Bay filly by Dubai Destination out of Satin Flower

Hello there, I was born on 24 February. My mum wasn't very well when I was born and had to get better so I went to live with Kelsae who is a grey foster mare.
On 4 August, I moved away from Kelsae and into a paddock with some other foals - here you can see me saying hello to them!
In October last year, I left Dalham Hall and moved to a new home in County Kildare in Ireland. As you can see, I've grown up quite a bit and behave very well when I have my feet picked out...
Although you can see I'd much rather be cantering around my paddock!!

| I’m now two and have been named Silk Trail. I spent last winter in Dubai, which was much warmer than Britain or Ireland! I returned to England with lots of other horses and have started my training with Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin stable in Newmarket. |

I had my first run in October 2008 and was ridden by Godolphin's stable jockey, Frankie Dettori. We finished second in a seven-furlong race (1400m), only half a length behind the winner. A 'length' is the unit used to measure the distances between horses in a race and it equates to the length of a horse so, as you can see, I came very close to winning on my very first start.
On 1 January 2009, I officially became a three-year-old and on 18 May I went to the racecourse for the second time where I finished third. Fingers crossed I will be first very soon!
It’s July and there’s much to celebrate as I am now a winner! I won my first race at Folkestone over seven furlongs (1400 metres) on 9 July. Daragh O’Donohoe was my jockey and together we started as the odds-on favourites. My mum, or dam as we call them in the horse world, is called Satin Flower and she will be very pleased with me as I am the sixth of her children to have won a race. My half-brother Lujain was very clever and won a Group One race, which is the best type of race to win – it’s a bit like winning a gold medal at the Olympics. |
