Winter Sun
Bay filly by Cape Cross out of Bright Morning

I live on a farm near to Rutland Stud called Church Hall Farm. I was born in February 2009 so I have already learned to follow my mum when she canters around the field. My legs are growing stronger every day. My mum is called Bright Morning and she is very special as her father was Dubai Millennium, Sheikh Mohammed’s favourite racehorse. My mum won a race in France when she was only two years old and her half-brother, called Desert King, won the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Irish Derby so I have a lot to live up to when I get to the racecourse. My dad is Cape Cross and he lives at Darley’s stud in Ireland, which is called Kildangan.

In December I moved from Church Hall Farm (where I am pictured below having a good look at the camera!) to a farm nearby called White Lodge where I am continuing to grow big and strong.

In November 2010 I moved to the same farm as my dad Cape Cross – Kildangan Stud in Ireland. I am spending lots of time running around in the paddock. My name is now officially Winter Sun.

In January 2011, I officially became a two-year-old and this year will be very exciting. In April 2011 I moved back to Newmarket. I will be put into training and ridden every day except Sunday. My training starts off by me being ‘broken in’ which means I have to get used to wearing a saddle and bridle and having a rider on my back. I don’t think I will mind this very much as this is what all racehorses are asked to do.

I will start off by walking and trotting and as I become fitter and stronger I will be asked to canter and then gallop.

In June I joined Sheikh Mohammed’s famous racing stable Godolphin. When I have done enough training I will eventually make my debut on a racecourse.
