Acantos strikes at Marseille

Daughter of Alexandros wins over 1500m

First-season stallion Alexandros took his winners to runners percentage to an impressive 55% on Thursday November 27 when his daughter Acantos won Marseille's 1500m maiden. Run on their synthetic track, it was a well deserved victory and the eighth time she has finished in the money.

Bred by Mme B. Mazure, Mazure and Mme A. Gaillard, Acantos is out of the Zieten mare Famatina, a daughter of the Italian Stakes mare Flute.

This is the second winner from only two runners for Alexandros with mares sired by Zieten. Both Acantos, and his other winner Alasdair, are very tough with a combined prizemoney total of €55,800.

Already the sire of the Stakes-performing juvenile filly La Khaleesi, Alexandros' six winners have come form only 11 runners, giving him a better winners to runners percentage than all other European first-season stallions that have had more than ten runners.
