Alonsoa Stars at Sandown

Classy Raven’s Pass juvenile remains unbeaten with her first Listed victory

Raven's Pass, a record-breaking juvenile himself, looks to have a smart two-year-old filly in the making in Alonsoa, who remained unbeaten in convincing fashion when landing the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown on 24 July.

Never far from the pace under Dane O’Neill, Henry Candy’s charge eased to the lead in the home straight and comfortably held off the late challenge of Pack Together (also a first-time out winner) to win the seven-furlong contest by three quarters of a length.

Alonsoa, who is trained by Henry Candy, won easily on her racecourse debut at Newbury last month and a further step up in class looks likely for this talented filly.

Owned and bred by Lodge Park Stud, Alonsoa is out of the smart performer Alasha (Barathea), a Listed winner who was second in the G1 E P Taylor Stakes and third in the 1,000 Guineas. She is also dam of multiple Group winner Alanza and has a yearling filly by New Approach.

Raven’s Pass is also sire this year of Royal Ascot Stakes winner Richard Pankhurst, winner of the Chesham, plus fellow Black type winner Redbrook.
