Amira's Prince crowned in G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes

Son of Teofilo much the best at Gulfstream

Amira's Prince, a son of Teofilo, proved worthy of his favoritism February 16 with an effortless victory in the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes on the turf at Gulfstream Park. With the win, the four-year-old colt sealed his third victory in a row since crossing the Atlantic.

In the one and three-eighths mile event Amira's Prince settled in a stalking position three lengths off the lead in third. There was no catching him after taking charge of the lead at the top of the stretch, and the colt drew clear in the lane for a nearly four length victory.

Bred by Gigginstown House Stud, Amira's Prince is out of the Green Desert mare Twice The Ease. He is a half-brother to Listed winner and G3-placed Hen Night. The colt's second dam is Irish Champion Easy To Copy, the dam of G3 winner Two-Twenty-Two, and Listed winners Easy Definition and Desert Ease. The deep family also traces back to multiple G1 winner Talking Picture.

Among Teofilo's top runners are G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Parish Hall and G1 Criterium International victor Loch Garman. He is now the sire of a total of ten Group runners to date from his first two crops. Teofilo stands at Kildangan Stud for €35,000 (Oct 1, SLF).
