Chalice success for Authorized

Ambivalent becomes her sires’ second Stakes winner of the day

Barely an hour after Toruk Macto had won his second Stakes race of his career in Turkey, Authorized’s three-year-old daughter Ambivalent gained her first listed win when easily landing the Chalice Stakes at Newbury. Possessing a very progressive profile, she started the season by winning a Nottingham handicap by five lengths before a third in the Listed Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket. Now the winner of three of her five starts, she triumphed today by one-and-a-half lengths with four-and-a-half back to the third.

Bred by Darley and trained by Roger Varian, she is out of the Stakes-placed mare Darrery (Darshaan) and a half-sister to two Stakes performers and the dam of the Prix de l’Abbaye winner Total Gallery.

Ambivalent becomes Authorized’s fourth Stakes winner after Castello Aragonese, Tenenbaum and Toruk Macto. He has also sired 33 three-year-old winners this season, including the recent impressive scorers Fatcatinthehat, Guarantee and Surprise Moment.
