Colima strikes at Nottingham

Daughter of Authorized impresses on debut

Authorized sired another impressive debut winner on Wednesday November 2, when his daughter Colima spread-eagled a good-looking field at Nottingham. Making her debut for Ralph Beckett, she was well supported in the market and knew her job well, eventually winning by a facile two-lengths.

Bred by Sir Eric Parker and sold for 170,000Gns as a foal, she is a three-parts sister to the Group-placed colt Eradicate (Montjeu), and closely related to Irish G3-winner Oh Goodness Me (Galileo).  She is out of the Indian Ridge mare Coyote, who was Stakes-placed at Ascot, who herself is a daughter of the Nassau and Falmouth Stakes winner Caramba.

Authorized broke his Maiden in the G1 Racing Post Trophy as a juvenile before becoming Europe’s Champion three-year-old the following season when winning the Derby and International Stakes. Now sire of eight winners, he has a number of very promising individuals including the impressive winning fillies Witnessed (rated 95p by Timeform) and Estrela (93p) and unbeaten colt Tamarrud. In France, both Tenenbaum and Wintergreen showed immense potential when running places on their debuts.
