Daughter of New Approach wins G3 Pinnacle Stakes

Sultanina remains unbeaten at Haydock Park

New Approach's first-crop daughter Sultanina belied her inexperience to remain unbeaten against seasoned rivals when winning the G3 Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock Park on Saturday May 31. After making a belated winning racecourse appearance at the age of four at Salisbury earlier in the month, she was held up near the rear early, made her progress in the straight and gamely battled to beat her barn-mate Freedom's Light by a nose.

Owned and bred by Normandie Stud, Sultanina is out of the Lupe Stakes winner Soft Centre (Zafonic), herself a half-sister to Group winner Dalvina and a daughter of another Lupe Stakes winner in Foodbroker Fancy. Soft Centre also has a two-year-old daughter by Teofilo, named Tutti Frutti and in training with Roger Varian, and a filly foal this season by Cape Cross.

Sultanina is the eighth Stakes winner to come from New Approach's first crop that includes Classic winners Dawn Approach (who stands at Kildangan Stud for a fee of €35,000) and Talent. Other notable performers include Dante Stakes winner and close Derby second Libertarian and Group winners Cap O'Rushes and Newfangled.
New Approach is standing this current season at a fee of £80,000.
