Darley stallions sire the first three home in the G1 Fillies’ Mile, with Chriselliam and Rizeena (Iffraaj) first and second; Ihtimal (Shamardal) is third

The G1 Fillies’ Mile has proved a happy hunting ground for the Darley stallions in recent years, and they have now been responsible for the winner in four of the last five years, after Chriselliam (Iffraaj) led home her paternal half-sister Rizeena to win the prestigious contest, with Shamardal’s daughter Ihtimal completing the trifecta by taking third.

Settled towards the rear in the early stages under Richard Hughes, Chriselliam swept up the home straight of the Rowley Mile to move ahead of Rizeena and win by a length, with Ihtimal once again demonstrating her class to take third.

Bred by Ballylinch Stud, Chriselliam is out of the Danehill mare Danielli, a half-sister to G1 winner Eva’s Request and dam of two further winners including another Black type performer in Janicellaine.

Iffraaj has been enjoying an outstanding run of success recently, with today’s second Rizeena having landed the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes earlier this month. Rizeena also won the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, while Iffraaj’s three-year-old daughter Dibajj won the G3 Prix du Petit Couvert at Longchamp two weeks ago. He is also sire of fellow juvenile G1 winner Wootton Bassett.
