First Australian Stakes winner for New Approach

Two-year-old filly Montsegur takes out the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington

Having finished second two starts back at G3 level behind stable mate Guelph (Exceed And Excel), two-year-old New Approach filly Montsegur jumped away the race favourite to become the first southern hemisphere Stakes winner for her sire, winning the G3 TBV Thoroughbreds Breeders Stakes at Flemington on 9 March in Australia.

Having become the first winner, then first Stakes horses, now Stakes winner for her sire, Montsegur is clearly a filly with her fair share of ability.

Bred by Darley, Montseguer is the third foal out of the Flying Spur mare Chatoynat, a half-sister to Legally Bay, the winner of the G3 Sweet Embrace Stakes. Chatoyant has a 2011 filly by Street Sense, foaled colt to Street Cry in 2012 and was covered by Medaglia d'Oro in the latest breeding season.

As the sire of four Stakes winners internationally including the unbeaten G1 winner Dawn Approach, New Approach is standing the current season for £50,000 Oct 1st SLF.
