Hidden Gold gains a valuable Stakes win

Daughter of Shamardal wins the River Eden Fillies' Stakes

Blue-blooded Hidden Gold, a Shamardal half-sister to Haras du Logis stallion Masterstroke, gained a valuable Stakes victory when running out the easy winner of the Listed River Eden Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield Park. A very progressive filly who only made her career debut in May this season, she has now won five of her eight starts.

Bred by Darley, Hidden Gold is also half-sister to multiple winner Villarrica, dam of a pair of G2-winners in Khawlah (Cape Cross) and Vancouverite. She is out of the multiple Classic-placed mare Melikah, herself a daughter of Champion Urban Sea, famous for winning the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and being the dam of the Champions Sea The Stars (again by Cape Cross) and Galileo. Melikah also has a yearling colt by Cape Cross, a colt foal by Dubawi and is in foal again to the same stallion this season.

Shamardal is enjoying a superb season and has now sired 23 individual Stakes winners. Amongst this number are G1-winners Mukhadram, Dan Excel and Baltic Baroness with G2 Rockfel heroine Lucida and G1 colt Toscanini heading his juveniles. Shamardal will stand this coming season at a fee of €70,000.
