Impressive victory for A Soldier's Life

Son of Authorized wins the Prix Vulcain at Deauville

Authorized's lightly-raced son A Soldier's Life, who was having his first run since April, ran out the impressive winner of the Listed Prix Vulcain at Deauville on Wednesday October 22. Never too far off the pace, he made smooth headway at the top of the straight, and only needing to be pushed out with hands and heels, ran out a very easy winner, with Teofilo's daughter Crystal Diamond gaining further Black type in third.

Bred by Darley and running in the colours of Gololphin, A Soldier's Life is out of the G3-winning mare Aynthia and a half-brother to the G1 juvenile filly Copperbeech.

A Soldier's Life's victory becomes the third Stakes performer to come from the Authorized, Zafonic mare cross (from only seven runners) after Tenenbaum and Statutory.

Authorized has now sired 21 Stakes horses in 2014 including Group fillies Ambivalent, Daksha, Seal Of Approval, We'll Go Walking and Lacy. His colts are headed by Hartnell with both Bande and Signoff being targeted at the Melbourne Cup next month.
