Light shines on Turkey's big weekend

Second stakes winner of the day for Dubawi as Hunter’s Light leads home Darley-sired trifecta

During Istanbul's prestigious two-day international meeting at Veliefendi racecourse, Hunter’s Light, a four-year-old son of Dubawi, won the Listed FRBC Anatolia Trophy with Shamardal entire Zazou second and Prince Alzain, by Street Sense, taking third in the 2000m contest.

Winner of the G3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes on his last start, Hunter’s Light has now won six times in 13 runs, including three Listed races last season. He was bred by Darley from the Barathea mare Portmanteau.

Also at Veliefendi, Dubawi’s three-year-old daughter Arsaadi took third in the Listed International Istanbul Trophy over a mile, while earlier the same day in Australia another Dubawi three-year-old, Lady Of Harrods, won the G3 HDF McNeil Stakes at Caulfield.

Dubawi has also had a good week at the sales in Europe, with his yearling daughter of Elusive Flash topping the BBAG Sale in Germany and a colt out of the Kirkwall mare Ronaldsay selling for £180,000 at the DBS Premier Sale. The son of Dubai Millennium stands at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket and is the sire of 45 stakes winners, with his fellow Darley sire Poet's Voice among his list of eight individual Group One winners.
