Listed victory for Shamardal juvenile

Zazera sprints to success in the Kronimus-Rennen at Baden-Baden

Shamardal’s excellent record in Germany was extended on Thursday when two-year-old filly Zazera landed the Listed Kronimus-Rennen for trainer Mario Hofer over 1200m at Baden-Baden.

Zazera was bred by another successful trainer, Mark Johnston, who guided Shamardal to victory in the G1 Dewhurst Stakes and G2 Vintage Stakes before his switch to Godolphin. She is out of the Woodman mare Woodlass and won on debut at the same course in May.

Another good year for Shamardal has been headed by the Aga Khan’s G1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Sagawara and G1 Premio Presidente Della Repubblica hero Crackerjack King. Other notable successes have come from Gingerbread Man in the G2 Stewards’ Cup in Singapore and G3 winners Dubai Prince, All Shamar, No Evidence Needed and Amaron. Sharestan, Elite Elle, Shamardashing and Van Ellis have all won Listed contests.

Shamardal, who stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland, is the sire of seven individual G1 winners and a total of 41 stakes winners.
