New Stakes winner for Authorized

Two-year-old colt Castello Aragonese victorious at San Siro

Castello Aragonese, a two-year-old son of Authorized, took a step up in class to Black type level in his stride on 1 July with a convincing victory in the Premio Giuseppe de Montel at San Siro in Milan.

Having won on his racecourse debut on 10 May, Castello Aragonese was second in a Conditions race the following month and took his record to two wins in three starts today when taking the seven-and-a-half-furlong contest by a length and a quarter. Capire E Un Lusso became a new Black type performer for Shamardal when finishing third in the same race.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, the colt is out of the winning King's Best mare Bronwen, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Teggiano.

He becomes the second Stakes winner in less than a month for Authorized, following Toruk Macto’s romp in a Turkish G2 contest on 2 June. He is also sire of G3 colt Mano Diao, plus Stakes-performing fillies Colima and Estrela.
