New Stakes winner for Teofilo

Rio Tigre lands the Derby de l'Ouest

Teofilo recorded his 20th career Stakes winner on 30 June when his three-year-old son Rio Tigre landed the Listed Derby de l’Ouest, run over 12 furlongs at Nantes.

The Godolphin colt (who is trained by Andre Fabre) was notching his third victory when winning by a length and a half, and has now won or placed in all four of his starts.

Bred by Castlemartin Stud and Skymarc Farm, Rio Tigre is out of the Kingmambo mare Braziliz, who has produced seven winners from seven foals to race including Group-winning sprinter Brazilian Bride. The mare’s half-sister Or Vision is the dam of G1 winners Dolphin Street, Saffron Walden and Insight.

Teofilo is also sire this year of G1 winner Sonntag, Oaks second Tarfasha and fellow G1 performer Amira’s Prince.
