Nothing Complacent about this colt

Authorized colt wins the G3 Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill Gardens, Australia

Having broken his maiden only ten days prior by two lengths at Hawkesbury, three-year-old Authorized colt Complacent relished the step up to the 9f of the G3 Gloaming Stakes, becoming the ninth career Stakes winner for his sire and first in Australia.

Settling in fifth place on the rail for jockey Kerrin McEvoy, the Peter Snowden-trained colt did not pass a runner, saving valuable ground as he came along the rail as the field fanned on the home turn.

Holding off the late charge of the last start G3 Spring Stakes winner Savvy Nature by a head, Complacent is now set to line up in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes in two weeks’ time.

With previous winners of the Gloaming Stakes including the now five-time G1 winner It’s A Dundeel and the globally acclaimed So You Think, Complacent looks to have a bright future, especially after the high praises placed on him by his trainer and jockey post-race.

Bred by Darley in Australia, Complacent is out of the Quest For Fame mare Insouciance, a sister to the three-time G1 winner Dracula, a half-sister to the Listed winners Sash and The Oscars, as well as to the dam of Lonhro’s Stakes-winning daughter Screen, herself a winner on this day two years back in the G3 Golden Pendant.

Authorized is the sire of 17 Stakes performers, nine of which are Stakes winners including the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Ambivalent and the G3-winning, G1 placed Rehn’s Nest.
