Outstanding weekend for Shamardal continues

Amy Eria becomes his third Stakes winner in two days with victory in the Prix Amandine

Shamardal, who recorded a Group-race double yesterday courtesy of G1 Eclipse victor Mukhadram and G3 Prix de la Port Maillot winner Sommerabend, continued his outstanding weekend when his three-year-old daughter Amy Eria landed the Listed Prix Amandine at Maisons-Laffitte.

Winning the seven-furlong contest by two lengths from favourite This Time (with Royal Applause’s daughter Fresles a half-length back in third), the filly was recording her second career win and her first at Stakes level.

Bred by Daniel Chassagneux and now running in the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, Amy Eria is one of three winners out of the Stakes-placed Octagonal mare Berroscoberro.

Shamardal has now sired no fewer than 18 Stakes winners this year, headed by the aforementioned Mukhadram, plus fellow G1 winner Dunboyne Express who added another victory at the highest level to his record in May. He is also sire of G1 performers Ihtimal and Able Friend and nine 2014 Group winners in total.
