Parish Boy wins the Eyrefield Stakes

Juvenile son of New Approach takes the Leopardstown Listed contest

New Approach sired a new Stakes winner on Sunday October 26 when his juvenile son Parish Boy swept from last to first to capture the Listed Eyrefield Stakes over nine furlongs at Leopardstown. Trained by Jim Bolger and running in the Godolphin blue silks, this was his second victory in a three race career and he looks a very nice prospect for middle distances next season.

Quoted after the race, his trainer was glowing in praise "I'm viewing him now as a Guineas horse, either the Irish or the English…I think he'll get a mile and a half. I'm hoping he will emulate his dad (New Approach)."

Bred by Darley, he is out of the unraced Rainbow Quest mare Requesting, who has already produced one Group performer in Dr Faustus and is from the top family of G1-winners Aussie Rules, Alborada and Allegretto.

Three of New Approach's four G1-winners have won Classics; Dawn Approach, Talent and May's Dream with his other top-flight winner being this season's Nassau heroine Sultanina. Parish Boy is one of 17 winners from New Approach's third crop that already includes G1 filly Winters Moon and Group colt Future Empire
