The first foals by QEII Stakes winner Poet's Voice have proved a popular choice with buyers so far, with the son of Dubawi averaging over four times his fee at Tattersalls last week.
His top-priced foal to date is a lovely bay colt consigned by Mickley Stud, who was bought by Shadwell for 140,000 guineas.
Speaking after the hammer fell, Richard Kent, who owns the mare in partnership with Allan Stennett said, "We are delighted with that. He was born a beautiful foal and he stayed that way, we've booked three nominations to Poet's Voice on the back of this lad.
"We liked Poet's Voice - he was valued and a good racehorse."
Another happy consignor was Peter Stanley of New England Stud, who said, “I’m a big fan of Poet’s Voice having sold two foals for 95k and 70k.” His 95,0000 guineas lot was a colt out of the Danzig mare Past The Post, a half-sister to G1 winner Bakharoff. He was bought by JC Bloodstock.
Earlier in the sale New England’s colt out of Black type performer Acquainted (herself a daughter of Love Everlasting), was bought by Good Will Bloodstock for 70,000 guineas.
Last month at Goffs, Poet’s Voice had his first taste of success in the sales ring when McBloodstock Limited went to €88,000 to secure The Castlebridge Consignment’s colt out of River Mountain – a half-sister to the dam of Champion filly Finsceal Beo.
Poet’s Voice stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £12,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
