Raven's Pass sires the Chesham winner

Richard Pankhurst easily wins on the last day of Royal Ascot

Richard Pankhurst, a juvenile colt by Raven's Pass, broke his maiden in style on the final day of Royal Ascot when easily winning the Listed Chesham Stakes over Ascot's straight seven furlongs. Wearing a hood on only his second start, he quickened impressively in the final two furlongs to win with ease by three-and-three-quarter lengths with Toscanini (Shamardal) in second.

Bred by his trainer John Gosden and owned by his wife Rachel Hood, Richard Pankhurst is out of the winning Elmaamul mare Mainstay, a sister to Stakes winner Lateen Sails and from the family of Al Bahathri.

Raven's Pass is proving to be equally adept at both producing both top quality runners and top quality sales stock. His best on the track to date include record-breaking juvenile G2-winner Steeler and Group runners Secret Number, Mutashaded and Lovely Pass. Last year he also had six yearlings that sold for more than €300,000, with a top price of 525,000Gns for a colt named Ya Hade Ye Delil, out of Palatial, who is in training with Richard Hannon for Al Shaqab Racing.
