Refuse To Bend to stand in France

Darley's 2,000 Guineas winner Refuse To Bend, sire of Arc favourite Sarafina, will relocate to Haras du Logis in Normandy for the 2012 covering season.

The beautifully-bred son of Sadler's Wells – who also won the G1 Eclipse Stakes and the G1 Queen Anne at four, and the G1 National Stakes in an unbeaten season at two – retired to Kildangan Stud in 2005. Sarafina, who won the G1 Prix de Diane and the G1 Prix Saint-Alary last year and the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in July, is from his third crop, while his fourth crop, three-year-olds of 2011, is led by his second French G1 winner Wavering, also successful in the Prix Saint-Alary.

His eight Group or Listed performers this season also includes his first-crop sprinting son Croisultan, and previous winners are led by multiple G3 winner Grace O'Malley, the leading German juvenile filly of 2009 Neon Light who went on to be Classic-placed at three and French G2 runner-up Wealthy

Sam Bullard, Darley's Director of Stallions, said, 'Refuse To Bend has proved himself more than capable of siring classy, durable racehorses and, in Sarafina, he has a truly top-class daughter. His stock have performed extremely well in France and we think he has the potential to be a future Champion sire there.' A fee for Refuse To Bend will be set in the autumn.
