Sixth Group triumph for Amaron

Son of Shamardal leads home a Darley-sired one-two-three in the G3 Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft

Amaron, the superb son of Shamardal, won his sixth Group race on Sunday June 22 when leading home a Darley-sired one-two-three in the G3 Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft. Always close to the head of affairs, he took up the running at the head of the straight and gamely fought off Simba (Teofilo) in second with Red Dubawi (Dubawi) in third. Winning the G3 Zukfunts Rennen as a juvenile in 2011, Amaron has won a Group race in every season since with his pinnacle performance coming in 2012 when victorious in the G1 Premio Vittorio di Capua in Italy.

Bred by Genesis Green Stud, Amaron is out of the Bertolini mare Amandalini, herself a half-sister to American Grade two winner Persianlux.

Shamardal has sired 16 Stakes winners in 2014 including G1w Dan Excel, winner of the International Cup at Kranji, G2-winners Sommerabend, Excellent Result, Fintry and Ghibellines and multiple Dubai Classic winner Ihtimal. Shamardal stands at Kildangan Stud alongside his G1-winning son Casamento.
