The winners keep flowing for Authorized

With five maiden winners in the past ten days and a second Stakes win for promising juvenile Castello Aragonese, Authorized looks set to have a successful summer

While Castello Aragonese continues to look like an exciting prospect for his sire Authorized – recording his second consecutive Stakes win on Sunday – the Darley stallion has been enjoying a run of success across Europe lately, with some extremely impressive winners in recent days.

On 14 July, three-year-old colt Masserano made a successful seasonal debut with a four-length win in France, while a few days later Andre Fabre’s well-bred  filly Samana Cay won well over ten furlongs at Vichy. Samana Cay is out of the multiple Stakes-winning Mark Of Esteem mare Tessa Reef who is herself out of a full sister to none other than Miesque.

On 20 July, Zamdy Man progressed from a first-time-out place at Sandown when storming to a four-length victory at Newmarket. The following day, Authorization made all to take a competitive ten-furlong maiden at The Curragh, winning by a length with the third-placed horse a further four-and-a-half lengths back.

On 23 July, Godolphin’s Surprise Moment was a hugely impressive winner at Windsor on her racecourse debut, flying from the rear of the field to beat clear favourite Courage by half a length. Her paternal half-brother Zanotti also gave a good account of himself in third – finishing some 14 lengths ahead of the rest of the field.

Authorized also looks to have a smart three-year-old in the making in Guarantee, who has now recorded two wins from three starts, most recently at Ripon where he won by three-and-three-quarter lengths.

With six Black type performers on the board so far this year, and many of his runners now building on the promise they have already shown, it could well be an Indian summer for Authorized.
