Amralah takes his second successive Black type race

Progressive son of Teofilo lands the G3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes

Teofilo’s four-year-old son Amralah, last seen landing the Listed Steventon Stakes at Newbury in July, added his first Group win in convincing fashion on 9 August when taking the G3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock Park.

Soon in front under jockey Joe Fanning, Mick Channon’s charge was never headed and ran on superbly to land the ten-furlong contest by a length and a quarter. Manduro’s True Story added further Black type to his record by finishing third.

He is now likely to be aimed at the G1 Irish Champion Stakes, due to take place at Leopardstown on 13 September.

Amralah was bred by Nawara Stud and is one of three winners out of the unraced Diesis mare Sharp Mode, a close relative of multiple G1 winner Elmaamul and Oaks winner Reams Of Verse.

Teofilo has now sired nine individual Stakes winners this year, plus a further ten horses who have been placed at Black type level. They include G1 winner Sonntag, Oaks second Tarfasha and 2013 Irish Derby winner Trading Leather, who was second to Shamardal’s Mukhadram in the G1 Eclipse last month.
