Oregon Lady dominates in River Memories Stakes

New Stakes winner for Shamardal at Woodbine

Oregon Lady, a four-year-old daughter of Shamardal, earned her first Stakes victory October 29 when dominating the River Memories Stakes at Woodbine by more than four lengths. It was the third victory on the year for the filly, as she becomes the newest Stakes winner for her sire.

In the one mile turf race Oregon Lady settled well of the pace patiently. Coming to the stretch the filly rallied into contention and took off to take the the victory by a head-turning margin.

Bred by Joan Murphy, Oregon Lady is out of the Gone West mare Oregon Trail. Her dam is a half-sister to Stakes winner and Group-placed sire Mutakddim as well as G1-placed Smooth Charmer.

A son of Giant's Causeway, Shamardal is now the sire of 32 black type winners to date. His Group winners include French Classic winner Lope De Vega and G1 winner Casamento, among numerous others.
