Stakes victory for Pelerin

Daughter of Shamardal takes the Cooley Fillies Stakes at Dundalk

Shamardal's three-year-old filly Pelerin gained a well deserved Stakes success on Friday October 31 when victorious in the Listed Cooley Fillies Stakes over a mile at Dundalk. Unbeaten on her only start as a juvenile, she won back in May at Thirsk and has run with credit ever since, exclusively at Stakes level.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and bought by current connections for 52,000Gns as a yearling, Pelerin is out the Stakes mare Fragrancy (Singspiel) and a half-sister to Cape Cross' Listed-placed filly Masarah. Fragrancy also has a yearling filly by first-season stallion Poet's Voice.

Shamardal is enjoying a superb season and has now sired 24 individual Stakes winners. Amongst this number are G1-winners Mukhadram, Dan Excel and Baltic Baroness with G2 Rockfel heroine Lucida and G1 colt Toscanini heading his juveniles. Shamardal will stand this coming season at a fee of €70,000.
