Teofilo filly steals the prize

Teofilo’s progeny have been enjoying plenty of success on the racecourse this year and his four-year-old daughter Voleuse De Coeurs became his 14th 2013 Black type performer when winning the Listed Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan.

Settled off the pace under Pat Smullen, she began to make her move with two furlongs left to run and taking the lead a furlong out, ran on well to win going away by two lengths.

Winner of the Irish Cesarewitch last year, this was Voleuse De Coeurs’ first Black type contest and her fourth career win. Although she holds an entry in the Ascot Gold Cup, trainer Dermot Weld indicated after the race that she is more likely to head for the G3 Curragh Cup en route to a tilt at the G1 Irish St Leger.

Bred by the Irish National Stud, Voleuse De Coeurs is out of the Grand Lodge mare Vadorga, a half-sister to multiple G1 winner Vahorimix.

Teofilo is also sire of 2013 G2 winner Amira’s Prince, Germany Derby hopeful Leofilo, plus Dante Stakes second Trading Leather – another Classic contender for his sire this year. He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €35,000 October 1st SLF.
