What is NovaBone Putty?
What is NovaBone Putty?
NovaBone® Dental Putty is 100% synthetic and fully resorbable. It is composed of calcium phosphosilicate (CPS) particles in a bimodal size distribution combined with a polyethylene glycol and glycerine binder. The smaller CPS particles (32-125 μm) are more rapidly resorbed, providing the initial burst of Ca and P ions.
What is PerioGlas?
PerioGlas is a synthetic absorbable osteoconductive bone graft substitute composed of a calcium phospho-silicate bioactive glass, Bioglass®~. The device is intended for dental intraosseous, oral, and cranio-/maxillofacial bony defects.
What is bone graft material?
Bone graft materials can be divided broadly into autograft, allograft, xenograft, synthetic materials, and combinations thereof (Table 1). Autograft (autogenous graft) refers to bone tissue harvested from and implanted in the same individual.
How is a bone graft done?
During a bone graft, your surgeon inserts a new piece of bone in the place where a bone needs to heal or join. The cells inside the new bone can then seal themselves to the old bone. Surgeons often perform bone grafting as a part of some other medical procedure.
What is vitoss?
Vitoss is a highly porous beta-tricalcium phosphate (up to 90% porous)1 with clinical research demonstrating efficacy in a variety of anatomical locations. 2. Vitoss can be hydrated with bone marrow aspirate (BMA), whole blood, or saline.
Is Novabone PerioGlas a bioglass?
PerioGlas (Bioglass Synthetic Bone Graft Prticulate)is a bioactive glass material used for alloplastic bone grafting . Perioglas is composed of elements naturally occurring in bone (Ca,Na, Si , P,O) . Material content of this package is of particulate form – the particle size range being 90-710 microns.
What is bioactive glass used for?
Bioactive glasses are a group of surface reactive glass-ceramic biomaterials and include the original bioactive glass, Bioglass®. The biocompatibility and bioactivity of these glasses has led them to be used as implant devices in the human body to repair and replace diseased or damaged bones.
What is the best bone graft material?
Allograft
Allograft is the most commonly used bone graft material. Allograft means the bone graft material comes from another human. It is a donor tissue that is very safe to use, and the body receives it very well. Autograft is another type of bone grafting material.
Is dental bone graft safe?
Dental bone grafts are done to help prevent long-term health problems associated with tooth loss and gum disease as well as to provide sufficient bone material to support dental implants. This common procedure is usually safe and well tolerated, though there are risks of side effects and complications.
How painful is a bone graft?
Most patients who receive bone grafts are completely pain-free and do just fine as long as they take the antibiotics. Your dentist also has to wait for the bone graft to fuse with the natural bones that are already in your mouth.
Is a bone graft major surgery?
Major Bone Grafting Common donor sites include the skull, hip, and knee. Defects that require major bone grafting include when the patient suffers a traumatic injury, tumor surgery, or congenital defects. Major bone grafting procedures are typically performed in a hospital operating room, and require a hospital stay.
What is Stryker vitoss?
Vitoss Synthetic Bone Graft Substitute Vitoss is a highly porous beta-tricalcium phosphate (up to 90% porous)1 with clinical research demonstrating efficacy in a variety of anatomical locations. Open, interconnected structure designed to allow for 3-D bone regeneration.
